A residing project in West Mankato became a lesson in history...News 12's Erin Reed shows us how behind the layers of old siding a piece of the Wild West was found.What was thought to be a routine residing project was more like opening an early Christmas present for the workers of Goodrich construction....Keith Berger says, "It's really interesting."The construction company was hired to at this home to install new siding and windows...After peeling back two layers of old siding and some tarpaper, crews were surprised to find a series of billboards....Advertisements for a Mankato performance of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show that were over 100 years old.Berger says, "This is, I think the most interesting and significant find we've had."News 12's Erin Reed says, "Although finding small time capsules at homes they're working on isn't something new, Ron Goodrich says something of this caliber is definitely unique."Goodrich says, "It's a fairly common thing to unveil something like this. This particular find though is kind of unique because it covered such a broad area of the house."The billboards are too weathered to be worth much more than an interesting conversation but it's finds like these that keep Goodrich and his crews on their toes.Goodrich says, "It's absolutely one of the most intriguing parts of our business is the ability to uncover a little piece of history once in a while."In Mankato, Erin Reed, News 12.
